TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Indiana State
University Scott College of Business students Paige Williams (Terre
Haute) and Terri Ketzner (Ferdinand) have earned honors as 2010 Anita
Benedetti Student Involvement Award recipients.
As a part of this program, they will be recognized by the Risk
and Insurance Management Society, Inc. (RIMS) at the organization’s
Annual Conference and Exhibition, April 25-29, in Boston, Mass.
Williams and Ketzner are receiving the Benedetti Award
for their outstanding leadership and involvement at Indiana State while
in pursuit of insurance and risk management as an area of study and
future career. The award
provides airfare, hotel expenses, registration and a small stipend to
outstanding insurance and risk management students who have been
nominated for the program. This award honors the late Anita Benedetti,
former deputy executive director of RIMS and president of the Spencer
Educational Foundation, Inc.
“We are delighted that two students from Indiana State
University’s Scott College of Business have been named Anita Benedetti
Award winners by the Spencer Educational Foundation,” said Dr. Terrie
Troxel, executive director of the Gongaware Center for Insurance and
Financial Services at ISU. “Anita was a wonderful person and a
consummate insurance and risk management professional. These two young
ladies reflect the same qualities as the award’s namesake.”
Williams, a senior insurance and risk management major
and Presidential Scholar at ISU, hails from Terre Haute.
She is the daughter of Charles and Donna Williams and a 2006
graduate of Terre Haute South High School.
As a student at Indiana State, Williams serves as the student
representative on the insurance and risk management program’s Insurance
Advisory Council, is a member of Gamma Iota Sigma and has served in
several leadership roles for the student organization.
She is also a member of the Insurance and Risk Management Honors
Corps (students with a grade point average of 3.6 or above) and is
active with RotarAct, Chi Omega Sorority, and the Networks Professional
Development program.
In her time at ISU, Williams has completed internships
with Lockton Companies, Inc. in Kansas City, Mo. (summer 2008) and
Westrope in Kansas City, Mo. (summer 2009).
Upon graduation from ISU in May, she will be going to work for
All Risks, Ltd. in Phoenix, Ariz.
“I am honored to be selected as a 2010 Anita Benedetti
Scholar,” said Williams.
“I've heard great things about the RIMS Conference, and I'm excited to
represent Indiana State University's Insurance and Risk Management
Program, meet people from other organizations and universities, and
learn more about my future career.”
Ketzner, a junior insurance and risk management major
and Gongaware Scholar, is originally from Ferdinand, Ind.
She is the daughter of Joseph and Karen Ketzner and a 2007
graduate of Forest Park High School.
As a student at Indiana State, Ketzner has been very involved
with Gamma Iota Sigma, serving as secretary and vice president before
taking on her current role as president of the organization.
She is also a member of the
Insurance and Risk Management Honors Corps (GPA 3.6 or above) and is
active in the Networks Professional Development program.
Ketzner has completed internships with German American
Insurance in Jasper, Ind., (summer 2008) and Old National Insurance in
Indianapolis (summer 2009).
She has been awarded an internship with the National Association of
Professional Surplus Lines Offices, Ltd. (NAPSLO) during summer 2010.
This prestigious opportunity provides interns
with a competitive salary from the host firms, and NAPSLO provides a
stipend, covers travel, housing and various other related expenses.
Interns also compete for an additional internship experience in London,
which takes place the following summer.
“I am fortunate to be chosen as an Anita Benedetti
Scholar and look forward to the many opportunities and knowledge I will
gain at this conference,” said Ketzner.
