A Message from the Department Chair

Welcome to the Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice (CCJ)! We are an academic department within the College of Arts and Sciences that emphases a liberal arts education with practical application.  With our focus on the education of students, we also engage in scholarly research and provide service to society, as well as the academic and professional communities.

ISU Criminology is a vibrant, growing department offering a traditional CCJ major as well as new majors in “Cybercrime and Security” and “Intelligence Analysis.”  We also offer Master of Science and Master of Arts degrees. All of our degree programs are available to both campus and distance education students.

Classes are offered on a wide variety of topics and structured to foster the development of students’ critical thinking, problem-solving, analytical, and communication abilities.  We value experiential learning, providing hands-on experiences, internships and community based learning through our partnerships with the local and world-wide criminal justice agencies.  Our robust alumni base is an advantage for graduates seeking employment and the department hosts its own annual career fair.

The ISU Criminology faculty includes world-renown researchers, experienced former practitioners, and committed academic advisors who provide guidance and support for students in pursuing their goals.  Faculty regularly involve interested students in research projects and sponsor student professional and academic organizations.

We hope you will take time to look through the remainder of the ISU Criminology and Criminal Justice website to see in more detail how our programs can help you achieve your educational and career goals.
