Scholarships

During each spring semester, the Department of Communication awards scholarships to declared Communication Majors. Please check this page in the spring semester for updated information about available scholarships and application procedures. 

Past Scholarships (Spring 2016)

1. Lucia and Donald Bolt Scholarship: based on an interest in public speaking and enrollment in the Communication major. Award level: $100-$350. 

2. Bruce McCormick Scholarship: based on scholarship and declared concentration in Journalism. Award level: $500-$600. 

3. John A. Boyd Scholarship: based on a current cumulative G.P.A. of at least 2.75; status as an entering freshman, entering transfer student, or continuing student at ISU; enrolled in the Journalism concentration. Award level: $500-$600.

4. Eva Chipper Scholarship: based on an interest in using communication in educational settings; current junior, senior, or graduate student status. Award level: $150-$200. 

5. Cork McHargue Scholarship: based on a current cumulative G.P.A. of at least 3.0; current junior enrolled in the Media Studies concentration; preference for graduates from Wabash Valley area high schools. Award level: $100-$180.

6. Betty Chadwick Sullivan Memorial Scholarship: based on a current cumulative G.P.A. of at least 2.5; current full-time junior or senior status; interest in electronic journalism. Award level: $100-$180. 

7. Jeffrey Liametz Memorial Fund Scholarship: based on a current cumulative G.P.A. of at least 3.0; enrolled in the Public Relations concentration; minimum of 15 credit hours completed in the major. Award level: $425-$600.

8. McComb Broadcasting Award: based on a current cumulative G.P.A. of at least 2.5; current junior status; has made a significant contribution to broadcasting at ISU. Award level: $100-$200.

9. Otis J. Aggertt Scholarship: based on a current cumulative G.P.A. of at least 3.0; interest in public speaking or oral culture. Award level: $100-$200.

10. David Sabaini Memorial Scholarship: based on a minimum G.P.A. of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale; recipient must have a declared major in the Department of Communication and have junior class rank; preference will be given to students who have made a positive impact at WZIS and/or Sycamore Media. Award level: $500.
