Graduate Music Graduation Information, Forms, and Policies

GRADUATE MUSIC GRADUATION INFORMATION

All graduate music students must complete 34 credits of graduate course work to
qualify for graduation. In addition to meeting the academic requirements of the pro-
gram’s concentration, a graduate music student, if appropriate, must

  • present a formal recital (music performance concentration) or
  • present a formal concert (conducting concentration) or
  • author an original paper (music education concentration)

The successful defense of the Oral Comprehensive Examination completes the gradu-

GRADUATE MUSIC CONTRACT OF STUDY

The School of Music notifies the College of Graduate and Professional Studies via a
Contract of Study that the graduate student has met all degree requirements for the
conducting (choral or wind) concentration, the music education concentration, or
the music performance concentration on the M.M. degree in Music. The Coordinator of the Graduate Program in Music prepares and submits this Contract of Study to the College of Graduate and Professional Studies.

APPLICATION FOR GRADUATION (CGPS)

Each graduate music student must apply for graduation through their MyISU Portal. The graduation application can be found within your MyISU Portal, under the student self-service badge. The application must be submitted by the following deadlines:

  • March 1 for Spring graduates
  • October 1 for Fall graduates
  • June 1 for *Summer graduates

*Summer graduates (except doctoral students) may attend the Spring Commencement Ceremony. To appear in the Spring Commencement Booklet, Summer graduates must apply by March 1.
