ISU Faculty Brass Quintet

Since its inception in 1978, the ISU Faculty Brass Ensemble has maintained a busy concert schedule. The ensemble presents two public concerts on campus each year, performs frequently at area schools and churches, and appears at many special University functions. In addition,The Faculty Brass Ensemble has toured in Kansas and Oklahoma, presented a featured concert at the 1988 Indiana M.E.N.C. ISU Faculty String Quartet

Formed in 1998, the Indiana State University Faculty String Quartet is devoted to introducing audiences to both contemporary and standard quartet literature. The quartet has performed at various new music festivals in the midwest and performs regularly on the ISU campus. In addition to performing, the quartet works with high school string programs across the state of Indiana. Individual members have studied at major institutions around the country and bring a wealth of chamber music experience to the ensemble.

The members of the Faculty String Quartet include Sharilyn Spicknall, violin; Erik Rohde, violin; Donna Lively Clark, viola; and Kurt Fowler, cello. The quartet is available for clincs and concerts free of charge.

ISU Faculty Wind Quintet

Established in 1967 the Indiana State University Faculty Wind Quintet is one of three faculty chamber music ensembles in the School of Music. Members of the ensemble are Joyce Wilson, flute; Nik Taylor, oboe; Kelly Rogers Niiyama, clarinet; Chad Roseland, bassoon; and Brian Kilp, horn. The Wind Quintet performs regularly on and off campus. In addition to an annual campus concert, the group performs on the Department's Contemporary Music Festival, Faculty Chamber Music Recitals and has participated in the recording of several compact discs featuring wind music. Jon Polifrowe, Daniel McCarthy, and Daniel Powers have written works for the ensemble. Recently, the quintet recorded Powers' work Impulse on Elf CD 1011.

The group has performed at The Kennedy Center and the Music Teachers National Convention of the National Association of College Wind and Percussion Instructors, the Ohio Music Educators Association, MENC North Central Division Conference, and the Indiana Music Educators Association. The Wind Quintet conducts clinics and masterclasses and performs regularly in local and regional schools. Clinics and concerts by the Wind Quintet are available without charge.
