Sponsored by the Division of Student Affairs, Jennifer Miracle-Best will speak about LGBTQ issues and today's college campus at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 27 at Hulman Memorial Student Union, Dede I.

The "All You Really Need to Know About Transgender-Identity" (open session/keynote) will talk about trans-identity and providing a safe and inclusive space for our trans and gender non-conforming brothers and sisters. The event is open to campus community.

Formerly the director of the LGBT Resource Center at the University of Georgia, Miracle-Best worked in student affairs for 13 years before leaving academia to pursue her dreams of reaching a broader audience with her personal story and her ability to engage people in difficult conversations.

Between her experiences and her educational and professional background, Miracle-Best has been praised for her disarming approach to meeting people where they are and helping them to broaden their perspective.

It was this diplomacy that enabled her to grow the LGBT Resource Center at the University of Georgia from a quiet, one-person office to a thriving, fully-staffed, and highly visible student-led operation that provided weekly programming and hosted campus-wide events that were recognized by the Office of Student Life as outstanding programs.

Miracle-Best hopes to continue to contribute to the dawning of a world where everyone is able to be their authentic self, regardless of their various identities, while feeling safe and loved.
