Arts and Sciences Foundations Scholarships

William P. Allyn Science Scholarship

The William P. Allyn Scholarship honors Dr. William P. Allyn, Professor and Chair of Zoology. Dr. Allyn was involved in education for the health professions.

Eligibility Requirements:
You must be a Sophomore or higher standing, have a financial need, and a 3.00 or higher cumulative GPA.  Preference is for a likely Medical or Dental School applicant. The statement of application must include how award will advance your study of science.

David C. and Margaret L. Campbell Endowed Scholarship for the Liberal Arts

Eligibility Requirements:
You must be a major in Communication; History, Languages, Literatures, and Linguistics; Philosophy; or Political Science. You must intend to attend graduate school or law school, be an Indiana resident, be enrolled full time at Junior or Senior standing and ranked in upper 25% of class.

Floyd M. and Margaret A. Dickey Pre-Dental Scholarship
(Not Awarded This Year)

This scholarship honors the parents of Dr. Keith W. Dickey. Dr. Dickey's parents graduated from Indiana State Teachers' College in the 1930's, and Dr. Dickey himself graduated from ISU in 1982.

Eligibility Requirements:
You must be a Sophomore or Junior Pre-dental student currently enrolled at ISU with a GPA of 3.0 or higher with demonstrated integrity and professionalism.

Raymond J. Reece and Frances R. Kepner Scholarship

The Raymond J. Reece and Frances R. Kepner Scholarship was established by Raymond Reece Kepner and his wife, Trischa J. O'Hanlon in honor of Mr. Kepner's grandfather and mother - who cumulatively served on the faculty of Indiana State University for over fifty years.

Eligibility Requirements:
You must be a Junior or Senior major in Arts and Sciences and have a 3.75 or higher cumulative GPA.

Frank L. Miklozek, Sr. Memorial Scholarship

Consideration for this scholarship shall be given to an Indiana State University student(s) who are enrolled full-time, have declared a major in the sciences and plan a career as a medical doctor or a veterinarian.

Thelma F. Mills Work-Study Scholarship

This scholarship fund was given by Ms. Mills in sacred memory of her parents, J. Edward and Lillie F. Mills and her brother E. Lenley Mills. Ms. Thelma Mills received a B.S. degree in 1932 and a M.A. in 1955 from ISU. She was a public school teacher for 37 years. In addition to her commitment to teaching, Ms. Mills was dedicated to the idea of establishing a fund which would assist worthy students engage in meaningful work experience as they earn a degree at ISU.

Eligibility Requirements:
You should be engaged in meaningful work experience related to your vocational/professional objectives, not to exceed 20 hours per week during the academic year (which may include unpaid internships). Your statement of application should describe how your vocational/professional objectives are advanced by your work experience. Please note in addition to two faculty references, you must submit a recommendation from your employer.

Dr. William L. Veach Memorial Scholarship
(Not Awarded This Year)

The Dr. William L. Veach Scholarship was established in memory of Dr. William Louis Veach.  As a caring, highly skilled and totally compassionate physician and surgeon he served the community and surrounding area for 41 years.

Eligibility Requirements:
You must be a full time junior planning a career in medicine with a declared major in Life Sciences, Chemistry or Pre-Med.  Recipients must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 on a GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale.  the scholarship may be renewed if academic achievement is maintained.  First preference will be given to a Vigo County, Indiana resident.  Financial need may also be a consideration.

Dr. Maxwell E. Britton Memorial Scholarship

Consideration for this scholarship shall be given to an ISU junior or senior, enrolled full-time.  Recipient must be majoring in a field to environmental studies, sciences, or preservation.

Dr. Floyd Riggs Memorial Scholarship

Consideration for this scholarship shall be given to a worthy and deserving student enrolled at ISU full-time.  Recipient must be a science major with the intention of attending medical school.  First preference is a student from Clay County, Indiana.

Donald and Mary Jo Stanley Scholarship

This scholarship was established by Mary Jo Stanley in 1989 in memory of her husband, Donald Stanley.  A native of Terre Haute, Mr. Stanley earned a Baccalaureate degree in 1931 and a Master’s degree in 1945 from Indiana State.  He was a teacher and principal at Fairmount High School prior to accepting a position as a food chemist with Campbell Soup Company.  He retired from Campbell Soup in 1973 as Assistant Director of Project Standards.  Mrs. Stanley is a native of Peru, Indiana, and was graduated from Chili High School and Central Business College.  She was employed as a secretary by Peerless Electric Supply Company for many years, later retiring from the Indiana Employment Security Division after 28 years of service. 

Eligibility Requirements:
You must be a College of Arts
and Sciences new or continuing student majoring in mathematics, chemistry, physics, or allied subjects., a U.S. citizens, permanent resident of the State of Indiana, and have shown the ability to succeed in your chosen field.  You must refrain from the use of controlled drugs and/or tobacco, and have shown scholastic ability by being in the upper twenty-five percent of your high school graduating class and thereafter maintain a B average or its equivalent (3.0 gpa).  Such recipients shall not be participants in intercollegiate athletics.

Robert and Lela Lemmon Scholarship

This scholarship was established in 1989 by the family and friends of Robert and Lela Lemmon in honor of their careers in the field of education.  Robert E. Lemmon received a bachelor’s degree (1946) and a M.S. degree and a D.Ed. degree from Indiana State University.  He taught social studies in Vigo County schools for 35 years.  Lela Lemmon graduated from ISU in 1941 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Home Economics.  She taught in Vigo County schools for 36 years.  At the time this scholarship was established, twenty-seven members of the Lemmon family and extended family were graduated from ISU.

Eligibility Requirements:
 You must be an u
ndergraduate student enrolled in or planning to enroll in Social Science Education or Family and Consumer Sciences.

Jack E. and Virginia Carpenter Bradbury Fine Arts Scholarship

 Established in 1999 by Cheryl and C. Thomas Steiner to honor Cheryl’s parents, Jack and Virginia Bradbury.  Dr. and Mrs. Bradbury are both alumni of Indiana State University.

Eligibility Requirements:
You must be undergraduate majors in Art, Music, or Theater, be an Indiana state resident, maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA, and demonstrate financial need.
