Scholarship Name: Akhtar H. Siddiqi Memorial Scholarship

Description: The family of Dr. Akhtar H. Siddiqi established an endowment scholarship fund to be administered by Indiana State University Foundation, Inc., for the benefit of a worthy student, or students, enrolled at Indiana State University.

Open To: Graduate Student in Geography

Selection Criteria:

  1. Recipient(s) must be enrolled full time in the graduate program with a declared major in Geography.
  2. Recipient(s) must have a minimum grade point average of 3.25 on a 4.0 scale.
  3. Recipient(s) must show financial need. 4) First preference will be given to a Pakistani Muslim student(s) and second to any Muslim student(s).

Award Amount: $1,000.00

How to Apply: Nominations are made in early spring by departmental faculty to the Graduate Affairs Committee.

Scholarship Name: Department of Geography and Geology Scholarship

Description: Scholarship to a worthy and needy student majoring in Geography and/or Geology. The amount available is $600.00 to be awarded for 1 recipient as a waiver of fees in the amount of $300.00 each semester.

Selection Criteria: Scholarship to a worthy and needy student majoring in Geography and/or Geology.

Scholarship Name: Donald G Brown Endowed Scholarship

Description: Renewable for a maximum of eight semesters provided academic achievement is maintained. The amount available is $500.00.

Open To: Undergraduate

Selection Criteria: Consideration will be given to Indiana State University undergraduate students pursuing a major in the Department of Geography, Geology and Anthropology. Students must demonstrate financial need and have applied themselves academically and are sincere in their academic endeavors.

Award Amount: $500.00

Scholarship Name: Hilda Pang Anthropology and Art Scholarship

Description: The amount available for this scholarship is $500.00 to be awarded for one recipient as a waiver of fees in the amount of $250.00 each semester.

Open To: Undergraduate

Selection Criteria:

  1. Full-time undergraduate students pursuing a major in Anthropology.
  2. Possesses a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.2; and
  3. Manifest promise or leadership within their chosen discipline.

Scholarship Name: Richard K. Kirk Memorial Scholarship

Description: The amount available is $500.00 to be awarded as a waiver of fees in the amount of $250.00 each semester.

Open To: Undergraduate

Selection Criteria:

  1. A deserving junior in Geology,
  2. 3.0 GPA,
  3. Financial need as determined by the committee, and
  4. U.S. citizenship.

Scholarship Name: Robert E. Pace Memorial Scholarship in Anthropology

Description: Scholarship awards are made on a competitive basis for the academic year, and may be renewed for no more than three succeeding years. The scholarship is provided in the form of a waiver of fees, $500.00 for each semester, totaling $1000.00. Any portion of the scholarship not used will be mailed in the form of a check from the Controller’s Office.

Open To: Undergraduate

Selection Criteria:

  1. Must be an anthropology major or specifically plan to be;
  2. have a serious interesting a career within anthropology, and
  3. must have maintained a GPA of 3.0 or better for the semester or term preceding the award. Renewal of awards will be based upon the above criteria, and active participation in departmental activities.

How to Apply: Submit a transcript for the preceding semester and a letter indicating your professional career goals to the Scholarship committee in c/o Dr. Russell Stafford.

Scholarship Name: Robert R. Drummond Undergraduate Geography Scholarship Award

Description: This scholarship was endowed by the members of the Drummond family and by friends and former students of Dr. Robert R. Drummond. The approximate value of the scholarship for 2003-2004 is $1000.00.

Open To: Undergraduate

Selection Criteria:

  1. Recipient should be a sophomore or junior enrolled full-time at Indiana State University who is committed to teach geography or earth science at the middle school or secondary school level. The scholarship shall apply in the year in which the recipient is enrolled as a junior or senior, respectively.
  2. Must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. Preference shall be given to superior academic performance.
  3. In the event that there are two equally qualified candidates, the student with greater financial need shall be given first consideration.

How to Apply: Applications may be obtained in early spring from the chairperson of the Undergraduate Affairs Committee.

Scholarship Name: Stanley Scholarship

Description: Could involve up to three awards of about $1500.00 each.

Open To: Undergraduate

Selection Criteria:

  1. Enrolled as a student at Indiana State University,
  2. are citizens of the U.S. and the state of Indiana,
  3. have shown ability to succeed in chosen field of study,
  4. refrain from the use of controlled drugs and/or tobacco,
  5. refrain from participating in intercollegiate athletics,
  6. are or were in the upper 25% of their high school class, and
  7. maintain a B GPA after high school.

Award Amount: $1500.00

Number of Awards Given Annually: 3

How to Apply: Nominations are referred to the Undergraduate Affairs Committee comprised of departmental faculty members then forwarded to the College of Arts and Sciences for final award determination.
