ACHIEVEMENTS
The following events and achievements have been accomplished by the Terre Haute Innovation Alliance partnership:
Commercialization Assistance
- Innovation Alliance staff members have
assisted each client company in commercialization projects,
including grant proposals, entrepreneurship training, business
counseling, technology development, etc.
- The alliance has admitted its fifth and final
company in the program under the HUD grant
Marketing
- ISU is working on a more engaging and
comprehensive website.
- Video clips are now available from the
Idea-to-Business Seminar promoting the Innovation Alliance.
Funding
- The Innovation Alliance secured an SBA Grant
in July, 2008 for the continuation of the program.
RHIC
- As part of the Rural Health Innovation
Corridor initiative, CBSEI is looking into funding opportunities to
build a new, full service, 12,000 sq. ft. business incubator with 30
offices/labs, several conference rooms, staff offices, and a
reception area in the RHIC strategic area.
- This opportunity would dramatically increase
the Innovation Alliance and CBSEI programs. Funding possibilities
are currently being researched and evaluated.
Sourcing
- The Innovation Alliance is receiving
inquiries and applications from a higher-than-ever number of
interested companies.
Professional Education
- National Business Incubation Association
(NBIA) 23rd International Conference on Business Incubation
- A representative from CBSEI attended the NBIA
Conference in April in Kansas City, MO. The sessions and
workshops will be focused on topics related to business incubation
and entrepreneurial support building.
Innovation Alliance Initiative
- Provide significant value to
commercialization-stage companies in the Terre Haute region and
continues to gain recognition and interest at both the local and
state level.
- The program has already made tangible impact
and will continue to grow and become more visible in the near
future.
- Innovation Alliance intends to accept more
companies into the program through the recently-received SBA grant.
- Supplemental external funding is being sought
to sustain the program and continue the entrepreneurial progress
being made.
