Distance Education REGISTRATION INFORMATION FOR ON-CAMPUS STUDENTS

This information supersedes the information that you received from any other office at Indiana State University about registration. The Department of Criminology & Criminal Justice handles registration for distance education courses differently from the standard method described by the Office of Registration and Records or the School of Graduate Studies.

All on-campus students are permitted to take distance education courses in the Department of Criminology & Criminal Justice during the summer. This is valid only for summer distance education classes in the department. On-campus students are NOT permitted to take distance education classes in the department during the spring and fall semesters. (Undergraduate students may request to take distance education courses during the spring semester and fall semester if an extraordinary reason can be shown as to why the class cannot be taken on-campus).

Graduate students who are on-campus students may take distance education courses only during the summer semester. NO on-campus graduate student may take distance education courses during the spring semester or fall semester without the express written permission of the Director of the Institute of Criminology. This restriction is due to the limited capacity of the online program.

I. Registration for summer courses:

                1. Meet with your official academic advisor to determine your course needs.

                2. If you need a distance course you must fill out a form online. Links to the forms are available at the bottom of this page. Please be sure to use the correct form. Under “reason for taking via distance” just state that the class is not available on-campus during the summer.

                3. This form will be processed by the Distance Education Coordinator. You will receive an e-mail confirming that you wish to be enrolled at your ISU Outlook e-mail address. You MUST reply to this e-mail and state that you want the distance class.

                4. Once you reply to the confirmation e-mail stating that you want the class, it will AUTOMATICALLY be added to your schedule. There is no need to complete a signed registration form from your advisor. Your web form and e-mail will serve as your signature. A signature of the instructor and advisor is not needed. Once you reply and state that you do want the class added to your schedule, YOU WILL BE SUBJECT TO ALL UNIVERSITY FEES FOR THE CLASS!
