Are there any special requirements i need if I bring my own laptop to Campus?
The laptop you bring should be able to run standard software (Office, IE, FireFox, and Blackboard). To insure your laptop will run the standard software please visit the following link for minimum hardware requirements: http://indstate.edu/oit/students/minimum-specs.php
Your laptop should boot up without errors and should be functioning properly.
What if I do not own or have access to a laptop?
If you do not own or have access to a laptop you can purchase one through ISU’s preferred vendor Lenovo. To review and purchase a Lenovo laptop visit http://lenovo.com/sycamores and click the “Your Laptops” button on the lower left half of the web page. You will see laptop options to choose from.
If you chose to purchase from another vendor it should meet the minimum hardware requirements at http://indstate.edu/oit/students/minimum-specs.php
ChromeBooks and Windows RT tablets do no work on the ISU campus network.
After arriving on campus you will be installing the following on your Laptop:
ISU-SECURE Wireless Setup – Select the ISU-SECURE from your devices list of available wireless networks. When your system prompts you for credentials enter your Sycamore Login and Password. If your device prompts you to accept the certificates, accept them. Further documentation can be found at http://www.indstate.edu/oit/students/wireless-access.php
Microsoft Office 2013 – You can get the MS Office 2013 installer by accessing the ISU downloads page at http://downloads.indstate.edu, once you have navigated to the page you must login with your ISU Portal ID to download the MS office 2013 installer. Note: If you have an existing versions of office installed on your laptop they must be uninstalled prior to installing Microsoft Office 2013.
·Pharos Wireless Printing Software– You can access the Pharos installer by accessing the ISU downloads page at http://downloads.indstate.edu, once you have navigated to the page you must login with your ISU Portal ID to download the installer.
What if I have trouble installing the software or connecting to the ISU Wireless Network once I arrive on campus?
Technical staff will be on site to assist you once you arrive on campus.
Call the ISU Help Desk at 812-237-2910 for assistance. If you are still having issues, these will be resolved when students come to LEAP.
