You can link to other content or folders within your Blackboard course with just a few clicks. An internal link can be used in any content area. For example you could link from Course Information (syllabus) to assignments, or from Assignments to Communications. For this example we will create a link in course documents. Click on Course Documents in the left of the screen.

Once in Course Documents, click on Build, located in the top bar, and then select Create Course Link.

Because you can add multiple links, it is a good idea to give each link a descriptive or unique name. In the text area you can have a more detailed description, but be careful not to have too much text. If you have several links/items/folders in Course Documents, having too much text may tend to hide needed content rather than adding clarity.

Once you have named the link you will then need to find the content to link. Click on Browse to see your course map.

Clicking on Browse open a course map. You will need to know the location of the information you wish to link. Notice that the folders have a small "+" signs next to the folder. This indicates that the folder contains more items, links or folders.

To see what a folder holds, click on the "+". Although you are creating a link, you cannot link to a specific file within a folder, you can only link to folders. For example, if course documents is filled with files or items, but no folders, when linked it will display all of the contents of course documents. However if course documents contains folders for each subject/unit/week you can link to that specific folder and only display what is needed for a specific week or unit. You can open a folder and select a specific item or file, but when you submit the link, it will link to the folder holding that item or file and not link directly to the item or file. Click on the folder that you want to link.

Check Yes if you want users to view the content item. You can also control the date that students can view the item. If you set up date restrictions, make sure to set up both start date and end date and you should select the date through calendar rather than enter it manually.

Once you have made all of the required selections, click on Submit to continue.
