How to Move or Copy Content within a Course

Return to tutorial list

To move or copy content or folders within a Blackboard course, you need to navigate to the content you want to move.  In this example, we will be moving one folder in Course Documents to another folder in Course Documents.

Once in Course Documents, find the file or folder that you want to copy. Click on the drop-down arrow next to the title, then click on Copy.

A new screen opens. First, confirm that what you are about to move or copy is the correct object.

Next you will need to click on Browse to identify the destination.

When you click on the browse button, a map of your course will open.  Click on the folder that you want to be the destination.

The path to the file now appears in the Destination folder line.

It is suggested that you do not select the delete button to immediately delete the file that you are copying. Once you have selected the Destination Folder, you must choose whether or not you want the original file to be deleted (thus moving the file) or leave it and just copy the file to a new location.

When you have made all of your selections, click on Submit to continue and execute your commands.

You will receive a confirmation that the item was copied. Now you can see two folders appear in the Course Documents. One of them is that we just copied.
