Login to your Blackboard course site. Then click on the course link and determine where you want to add your streamed video link.

In the Course Documents screen, click on Create External Link under Build button.

Under External Link Information, type in the Name of the video stream.

Contact the videographers to get the URL address for your streamed video and then enter the address in the URL textbox.

Type in a description of the video content.

Click Browse button if you want to attach local files.

Complete the options section: You can decide to make the link visible or invisible. You will likely NOT want to launch the item in a new window due to pop-up blockers. You can selectively release this link by determining start and close dates and times. If you set up date restrictions, make sure to set up both start date and end date and you should select the date through calendar rather than enter it manually.

Click Submit button.

You will now see your link. Now click on the URL to check if it works.

You may wish to remind students that they may need a viewer to view a video streamed file. If you would like to include a link to viewers and plug-ins you can add a link (using the URL tool) to your course. Viewers and plug-in links are available here. Depending upon whether the learner uses a Mac or a PC will determine the type of plug-in that the student will download.
Note: You can also stream audio only. If you have the audio files that you wish to have streamed contact the ISU Videographers and they will prepare the files for uploading to the streaming server. The process for adding the address of the streamed audio is the same; you would use the URL tool as you did in this tutorial.
