If the assignment tool is used in your course you will need
follow a specific procedure in submitting assignments. This is
not the same as e-mailing an assignment.
Assignments can be found just about anywhere in a content area,
however many instructors will use the Assignments area. Log on
to Blackboard and enter your course. Click in the Assignments
button on the left of the screen to see assignments.

In the assignments area look for your current assignment. Click on the title to view or complete the assignment.

In the assignments screen you will find the name of the assignment and some instructions.

In the next part of the screen is where you can type your answers.

You can also add comments about the assignment and attach any files your need to submit. To attach a file click on the Browse for Local File button.

Your Choose File to Upload dialog box open. You will need to navigate to the location of your file. This could be on a floppy, zip, hard drive, desktop or wherever you saved your file. Select your file and click the Open button.

To add multiple files click on the Browse for Local File again. A list of the file you have attached will appear below the browse window.

You can also remove any attached file by clicking on the Do not attach button to the right file name.

Here is a hint for using the assignment tool. You can add the files you need to complete an assignment (such as research articles or other files you want to reference) and you will be able to save these files back by clicking on the Save as Draft button rather than the Submit button. This way you can access the files from any location where you have internet access and not worry about having your disk with you. Just be sure to remove your reference articles or files before you actually submit your assignment. Only submit what is required to successfully complete the assignment.
Using the Save as Draft button allows you to keep your work in one location until you are ready to submit your assignment.

When you click on Save as Draft button you will receive a confirmation that the assignment has been saved. Click Continue Current Submission button to continue submitting the assignment, or click OK button to return back to the assignment page.

Clicking on Continue Current Submission button will return you to your assignment and associated files. To submit your assignment, click on the Submit button.

You will receive a confirmation that the assignment is complete.

Once an assignment has been submitted you cannot make any additional changes, and clicking on the name of the assignment link will open the file that you just submitted.

On the Submission History screen you can review the files you submitted, see your grade, and read any additional comment the instructor may have added.
