Laptop computers are integral to your education. In addition to using laptops in and out of class to take notes, conduct research, and write papers, students use computers to send email and exchange materials with classmates and instructors. Students also use laptops to access Blackboard, where professors post documents and set up electronic discussions. Students should respect the individual laptop policies that faculty members create for their classes.
When class is in session, students must use their laptop only as directed by their professor.
In the spirit of creating a professional environment, students will also be responsible for any inappropriate laptop usage during speaker engagements, specialized workshops, and events. During these events, students should avoid any activities, such as checking email or surfing the web, that diminish their engagement with these speakers.
