Install Windows Defender

Follow these steps to download and install Windows Defender beta
version. A beta version means a test version of the software before
it is released officially. This version may contain bugs and make
the system unstable.
- Open an internet browser and go to the
www.microsoft.com.
- In the left hand pane, click on Downloads.

- On the new screen, click on Windows Defender (beta2) under
popular downloads section.

- Click Continue for validation of the copy of the Windows
installed on your computer.

- On the next page follow the instructions provided after clicking the
Download plug-in button.
- After installing the plug-in, click Continue at the bottom of the
page.
- Click on the Download button and save the WindowsDefender.msi
file on the desktop.
- Double click on the WindowsDefender.msi file to run the
installation program.
- Click on the Next on the welcome screen.
- Check the I accept….. radio button and click Next.
- In the next window, the selection is up to the user’s discretion but we
recommend the second option. Once the selection is made, click Next.

- Select the Complete radio button and click Next.
- Click Install to start the installation.
- In the next window, leave the box checked and click Finish to
close the window and run the Windows defender program automatically. If you
want to manually start the program and update the definitions, uncheck the
box and click on Finish.

Update Windows Defender

Windows Defender is self-updating, so you do not normally have to
keep it up to date. To check for new definitions manually:
- Go to Start, All Programs, Windows
Defender.
- Click the Down arrow next to the Help icon and choose About
Windows Defender.
- In the Windows Defender dialog box, click Check for Updates.
