Customize Your Internet Browser Settings
Exporting and Importing Bookmarks (Favorites) from Another Computer
Exporting and Importing in Internet Explorer:

- Start Internet Explorer by going to Start, All
Programs, Internet Explorer.
- From the File menu, choose Import and Export.
- In the Import/Export Wizard window, click Next.

- Under Choose an action to perform, select Export
Favorites and click Next.
- Choose the folder or folders of Favorites you want to export and click Next.
- Choose Export to a File or Address. You will save the Favorites to a
file on your desktop. Click Browse to find your computer's desktop.

- The wizard will tell you your file will be saved. Click Finish.
- The wizard should tell you it successfully saved. Click OK.
- Now that your Favorites have been exported, you need to move the file to
your new laptop. Either e-mail it to yourself or save it to a removable
storage device. Put the file on the desktop of the new laptop.
- On your laptop, go to Start, All Programs, Internet Explorer.
- From the File menu, and choose Import and
Export.
- Select Import Favorites and click Next.
- Select Import from a File or Address and click Browse to find the Favorites
file you copied from your old computer to the laptop's desktop.
- Select the bookmark file and click Save.
- Choose the folder or folders of bookmarks to import and click
Next.
- Complete the wizard by clicking Finish.
- The wizard should tell you that you successfully imported the favorites
into Internet Explorer.
- You can check to make sure your Favorites are there by looking under the
Favorites menu within the Internet Explorer web browser.

Importing and Exporting in Mozilla Firefox

- Start Firefox by going to Start, All Programs,
Mozilla Firefox,
Mozilla Firefox.




- From the Bookmarks menu, choose Manage Bookmarks.

- From the File menu in the Bookmarks Manager, choose
Export.

- Choose to save the file on your computer's desktop and click
Save.

- Now that your bookmarks have been exported, you need to move the file to
your new laptop. Either e-mail it to yourself or save it to a removable
storage device. Put the file on the desktop of the new laptop.
- On your new laptop, start Mozilla Firefox.
- To import the bookmarks file to Firefox on your laptop, go to the Bookmarks menu and choose
Manage Bookmarks.

- From the File menu in the Bookmarks Manager, choose
Import.

- In the Import Wizard window, select From File and click
Next.

- To select the bookmarks file you copied to your laptop's desktop,
click Desktop, select the file, and then click Open.

- You can check to make sure your bookmarks are there by looking under the
Bookmarks menu in Firefox.

Overriding the Factory Setting
for the Default Browser Start Page

- Launch the ThinkVantage program by double-clicking
the icon in the task bar.

- Click the Manage tab on the Connection Manager
page.

- The Location Profiles box will appear. Select
Profile Action, Edit.

- Select the Additional Settings tab.

- The home page information can be updated and then select
OK.

- Your homepage has been updated and you can close the
program.

Setting a Default Internet Browser or Browser Start Page
To set Microsoft Internet Explorer as your default browser:

- Start Internet Explorer by going to Start, All
Programs, Internet Explorer.



- Go to the Tools menu and choose Internet Options.

- On the General tab, type in the address of the web page you want
to be your start page for Internet Explorer.
- On the Programs tab, check the box Internet Explorer should check to
see whether it is the default browser and click OK.
- Close Internet Explorer and restart it again.
- Click YES if it asks if
you want to make Internet Explorer the default browser.

To set Mozilla Firefox as your default internet browser

- Start Firefox by going to Start, All Programs,
Mozilla Firefox, Mozilla Firefox.
- Go to the Tools menu and choose Options.

- On the General icon,
- In the Home Page section, type in the address of the web page you want
your start page for Firefox.

- In the Default Browser section, check the box where it says
Firefox should check to see if it is the default browser when
starting and click Check now.

- Click Yes, if it asks you to set Firefox as the default browser.
