Graduate Teaching Assistant Programs and Resources

Indiana State University offers a multidimensional professional development program for graduate students to increase their competence and confidence in the areas of teaching, research, and service.

Professional Development Programs and Training

CIRT offers programs for graduate teaching assistants in many formats to meet the needs of everyone’s busy schedules. Graduate teaching assistants may attend faculty programs by special arrangement. Contact Debra Runshe at drunshe@indstate.edu for more information.

Current ATRC Training Workshops

Graduate students may also sign up for instructor-led workshops held in the Academic Technology Resource Center (ATRC). These workshops include multimedia, graphic, and statistical software training.

One-on-One Training

CIRT staff can provide consultations and training on a one-on-one, on-time basis to assist you on a variety of topics. This includes reviewing material taught in workshops and learning new skills. To request a one-on-one session, sign up for a "Customized Private Session" on the topic of your choice on the Current Program Schedule.

Self-study Tutorials and Computer-based

Don't have time to attend an instructor-led class? Work your way through one of our self-study tutorials. Pick the module you need or choose the whole course. Practice files and quick start guides are also available. NOTE: Tutorials and practice files are accessible from on campus only.  OIT has contracted with the Makau Corporation to provide self-paced computer-based training (CBT), available to all ISU faculty, staff and students.

There are a variety of resources and services available to you as you pursue your professional development goals. Useful tips, articles, and tutorials on Microsoft Office can be found in our Office Clues, instructional ideas can be found in Teaching Tips.  Check out all of the resources and services available.
