What is distance education?
Distance education is a way for you to earn college credit even if you are too busy to commute to campus or your work hours make traditional college classes impossible. Distance education delivers college courses from accredited Indiana colleges and universities to hundreds of locations across the state using technologies like interactive television, the Internet videotapes, CD-ROMS, and computer disks. Some courses can even be delivered directly to you home. The classes are virtually the same as those taught on campus except that a physical distance separates the teacher and you.

Your area Learning Center is a place where you can obtain help or use equipment you may need to participate in distance education classes. For example, you may be viewing televised lectures at home or work, but you can go to the nearest Learning Center to fax papers to your professor, communicate with classmates via email, take an exam or get help registering for next semester’s courses.
