Accrediting Indiana Schools Since 1905!

Welcome!

The North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement (NCA CASI) has a long and proud history in Indiana. Indiana's Emmerich Manual was the first Indiana school to be accredited by NCA CASI, followed shortly by Alexandria-Monroe High School.

Today Indiana NCA CASI proudly accredits 960 public and private schools, serving nearly 589,000 students. We have seen continued growth in the last decade because of our close association with the Indiana Department of Education and as an approved model for Public Law 221 (Indiana's comprehensive accountability system for K-12 education), and our District Accreditation model, which enables districts of all sizes to help improve student learning and increase school and district effectiveness.

In 2006, NCA CASI joined with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Council on Accreditation and School Improvement (SACS CASI), and the National Study of School Evaluation (NSSE) to form one strong and unified organization under the name AdvancED. We are very excited about the new accreditation standards and process that have resulted from the partnership.

Indiana NCA CASI offers a variety of services to our schools, including fall and spring conferences, workshops, a Systems Leadership Summer Academy, and special events. In addition, we provide technical assistance (electronic and on-site) to all schools. More than 160 Indiana educators have trained and served as Quality Assurance Review chairs. In addition to eight AdvancED Field Consultants, Indiana also has 24 educators serving as School Liaisons. These people contact schools regularly to provide support and information in a timely manner.

The Indiana NCA CASI office is located on the 12th floor of the College of Education at Indiana State University (ISU). We are proud of our affiliation with ISU and greatly appreciate the support we receive from faculty and staff as we strive to help schools promote the school improvement process.
