University Hall Project

Building the Future of education

Renovation of University Hall, soon to be the new home of the Bayh College of Education at Indiana State University, is well underway. The $29.8 project is slated for completion in 2009, and will feature high-tech classrooms, a 475-seat auditorium, an enclosed atrium and a comprehensive clinic.

The building, which is listed on the historic register at the Indiana Division of Historic Preservation and Archaeology, celebrates a rich history in education, having been built as the Laboratory School in 1936, and provides a solid foundation for the future of education at Indiana State.

Historical features will include the preservation of a WPA mural by Terre Haute native Gilbert Wilson, a time line on the history of education at Indiana State, and displays of artifacts from the Lab School.

As educators are the foundation of our nation and its schools, there can be no greater investment than in the future than education. The renovation of University Hall is a commitment to excellence that the Bayh College of Education at Indiana State makes to its students, faculty, staff, state and nation as it seeks to prepare, promote and advance educational and human service professional for a diverse and ever-changing world.
