Professional Background Dr. Badar joined the Indiana State University (ISU) as an Assistant Professor in Fall 2002. He received tenure and promotion to the rank of Associate Professor in Fall 2008. Since Fall 2007, he has been the coordinator of the BS in Mechanical Engineering Technology program. Also, he has been the Assistant Director of the ISU Center of Systems Modeling and Simulation since 2004. He teaches courses for the BS in Mechanical Engineering Technology and MS and PhD in Tech Management programs. Before joining ISU, he had taught at the Univ. of Oklahoma for two years as a PhD candidate in Industrial Engineering and at K.F. Univ. of Petroleum and Minerals for two and a half years as a lecturer in Mechanical Engineering. He had also worked in industry as a mechanical design engineer and manufacturing engineering intern. He is a member of ASME, IIE, SME, and ATMAE.
Dr. Badar has published more than 25 articles in refereed journals and proceedings in the areas of coordinate metrology, lean manufacturing, health care, supply chain, energy system design, failure analysis, stochastic modeling, and reliability. The publication also includes a chapter in the Taylor & Francis Handbook of ISE (2006). He has received funding from ISU(Lilly Foundation), NATO, Union Hospital, Columbia House, Tredegar Film Products, Hydrite Chemical, Terre Haute Innovation Alliance (grant proposal approved, award pending), etc.
Dr. Badar has served as the director of the IIE Engineering Economy Division (EED) since 2005 through 2007. In 2005, as the EED program chair and a member of the IIE Annual Research Conference (IERC) Organizing Committee, he organized engineering economics sessions. He is also a faculty co-advisor for the SME Student Chapter at ISU since Mar 2005. Further, he is serving as a reviewer for different journals and conferences.
Research Interests Coordinate Metrology, Lean Manufacturing, Health Care, Logistics, Energy System design, Failure Analysis, Stochastic Modeling, and Reliability.
