The forensic accounting minor is open to all majors—and is an excellent way to increase your employability and to supplement skills and abilities.
This minor is ideal for criminology and criminal justice majors interested in a career in deterring money laundering and white collar crime—and for business majors who want to be able to detect and prevent fraud. For accounting majors fraud examination is part of their job, and this minor provides specialized knowledge and tools.
The minor includes 18 credits of course work that provide the necessary accounting, fraud examination, and investigative skills to investigate, detect, and prevent fraud. In many cases, students may apply courses within their major toward completion of the forensic accounting minor.
All courses are delivered online (via the Internet). On-campus visits are not required.
The College of Business is accredited by AACSB International—The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business.

Forensic Accounting Minor
Eligibility
The forensic accounting minor is open to all majors. To complete the minor, a grade of C (or higher) is required in all accounting courses, including BUS 201. In addition, you must fulfill the University's requirements for graduation with a bachelor degree, including successful completion of a major.
Note: If you wish to enroll in one (or more) forensic accounting courses—but do not intend to pursue a bachelor degree—you may apply to the University as a non-degree student. Registration is on a space available basis. For details, contact the Office of Distance Support Services at 1-888-237-8080.
General Guidelines for Credit Transfer
Indiana State University accepts credit from many regionally accredited institutions.
The following are general guidelines for credit transfer. Upon admission, academic advisors review transcripts to determine which credit transfers and which courses will be included in your program of study.
- Credit earned from regionally accredited colleges or universities is transferable.
- Technical skills courses in an A.A.S. program may not transfer; however, any credit earned in general education, liberal arts, or liberal studies may be transferable.
- Transfer credit is assigned only for courses in which you have earned a grade of C or higher.
- The College of Business cannot accept Ivy Tech State College credit earned prior to 1993.
- Generally, an equivalent number of credit hours are given.
- In some cases, credit may be transferable to the University, but may not be applied toward completion of the forensic accounting minor.
- Remedial, audited, or non-credit classes do not transfer.
- College living, orientation, and study skills classes do not transfer.
- At least 50 percent of the accounting credit hours required for the forensic accounting minor should be taken at Indiana State University.
