If you wish to complete a distance course or program, you must apply for
admission to Indiana State University as a:
Degree-Seeking Student
If you are seeking a graduate degree (master and doctoral), you must meet
admission requirements (listed below).
To be considered for admission, you must submit all application credentials,
including a completed Degree-Seeking Application and the application fee.
To complete the graduate admission, you also must:
- Submit one official transcript from each undergraduate and graduate
institution attended, other than Indiana State University. Transcripts are
official only when sent directly from the registrar of the institution to the
School of Graduate Studies.
- Submit all other credentials required for admission to the particular
program for which admission is sought.

Admission requirements for master degrees
Please note: It must not be assumed that meeting the following minimal standards
guarantees admission to the programs.
- Hold a baccalaureate degree granted by a regionally accredited institution
(for international students, a degree granted by a recognized institution).
- Have earned a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.7 in all
undergraduate course work; or have earned a minimum cumulative grade
point average of 3.0 in the last 60 hours of undergraduate course work; or
have earned a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 in the applicant's
major field of study; or have earned a minimum cumulative grade point
average of 3.0 in all courses taken at the graduate level.
- Where required, submit departmentally acceptable scores in the General Test
of the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) or, where applicable, other appropriate
standardized measures.
- Satisfy and/or meet any and all additional admission requirements of the
department/program where admission is being sought. Additional requirements for
specific programs are listed in the program descriptions under
Programs.
- Submit to the School of Graduate Studies a fully completed Graduate
Admission Application Form with a non-refundable admission application fee of
$35.00 payable by cash, credit card, money order, or check made payable to
Indiana State University.

Admission requirements for doctoral degrees
Please note: It must not be assumed that meeting the following minimal standards
guarantees admission to the programs.
- Hold a master's degree granted from a regionally accredited institution
(for international students, a degree granted by a recognized institution),
unless applying to a department/program that accepts students with undergraduate
degrees. In the latter case, an applicant must, at a minimum, meet the regular
admission requirements for a master's candidate (above).
- Have earned a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.2 in all courses
taken at the graduate level.
- Where required, submit departmentally acceptable scores in the General Test
of the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) or, where applicable, other appropriate
standardized measures.
- Satisfy and/or meet any and all additional admission requirements of the
department/program where admission is being sought. Additional requirements for
specific programs are listed in the program descriptions under
Programs.
- Submit to the School of Graduate Studies a fully completed Graduate
Admission Application Form with a non-refundable admission application fee of
$35.00 payable by cash, credit card, money order, or check made payable to

Non-Degree Student (U.S. Students)
You must submit the Non-Degree Application if you wish to complete one of
the following:
- An ISU certificate program
- An ISU licensure or licensure renewal program
- A limited number of courses for credit
- A limited number of courses for transfer to another institution
- A graduate course as an ISU senior
To be considered for admission, you must possess an undergraduate degree from a
regionally accredited institution and meet any and all requirements of the
academic unit offering the chosen program.
