FACULTY: ONLINE COURSE DEVELOPMENT

Through the Center for Teaching and Learning, faculty members have access to a variety of services for on-line course development, including:

  • Interactive and Multimedia Design
  • e-Learning Production
  • Instructional Design

Overview of Services:

Interactive and Multimedia Design Services (IMDS) offers a wide range of design services to faculty and staff. A creative team of designers is available to help translate ideas into visual media for web delivery, multimedia and poster presentations, informational signs, and classroom support. [details]

e-Learning Production Services (e-LPS) is an interdisciplinary group of students who are experimenting with interactive multimedia technology in professional practice and education. The E-LPS is active in building partnerships within the ISU academic community. [details]

Instructional Design Services offers faculty members assistance ranging from the initial planning stages (where our staff will work with you to develop your online course) to individualized consultation sessions to workshops focused on the use of Blackboard as an online course delivery system. [details]

Our staff will meet with faculty members and assemble a team from Instructional Design Services, Interactive and Multimedia Design Services, and e-Learning Production Services to assist.

ISU DISTANCE ENROLLMENTS AT RECORD HIGH

Fall 2005 enrollments in ISU semester-based distance learning courses totaled 3,562 per the 7-day report -- a record high and a 5% increase over Fall 2004 enrollments of 3,408.

-- Fall 03: 2,607

Credit Hours Generated  (5% increase)
-- Fall 05: 10,344
-- Fall 04: 9,815
-- Fall 03: 7,558

Courses - semester-based distance  (1% increase)
-- Fall 05: 245 courses (28 TV; 2 print; 215 Web)
-- Fall 04: 243 courses (30 TV; 4 print; 209 Web)
-- Fall 03: 195 (34 TV; 4 print; 157 Web)

Also of Note:

Summer 2005 also set a record high at 1,987 enrollments - a 27% increase over Summer 04 enrollments of 1,576.

UPDATE: ISU DISTANCE PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT

The following update on distance program development at Indiana State University includes new (and renewed) program agreements:

I. New Distance Program Agreement

  • TESL / TEFL (Graduate Certificate):
    This 12-hour program prepares individuals to teach English as a second or foreign language. The program is open to all eligible students (in-state, out-of-state, international)
    -- Delivery:  Web (Internet)
    -- On-campus requirements:  None
    -- Availability:  Summer 2006

II. Renewed Program Agreements

  • Electronics Technology (B.S. degree-completion)
  • Electronics and Computer Technology (M.S.)
  • Nursing (RN to BSN)
  • Nursing (M.S.)
  • Student Affairs and Higher Education (M.S.)
