SPRING 2006 PROFILE:  ISU DISTANCE LEARNERS

Spring 2006 enrollments in ISU distance learning courses set a record high. Headcount (unduplicated) in ISU distance courses reached 2,240, generating a total of 11,146 enrollments (or credit hours) per the 7-day count.

To understand this increase, it is important to note who enrolls in ISU distance courses. The profile (below) is based on the University's Spring 2006 Enrollment Summary.

Profile

Of the 2,240 students enrolled in distance learning, the majority are:

  • Undergraduates (61%)
  • Over the age of 25 (64%)
  • Women (60%)
  • Distance-only students (58%)

The majority (63%) live outside of Vigo and its six surrounding counties (Clay, Greene, Owen, Putnam, Sullivan and Vermillion).

I.  Enrollment by Level:

  • Undergraduate: 61%
  • Graduate: 39%

II.  Status:

  • Full-time undergrad: 37%
  • Part-time undergrad: 24.5%
  • Full-time grad: 7%
  • Part-time grad: 31.5%

III.  Average Age:

  • Undergraduates:  28.4 years
  • Graduates:  37.2 years

IV.  State:

  • Indiana (72%)
  • Out-of-State: (28%)

NEW !  VOCATIONAL BUSINESS EDUCATION LICENSURE

The University's now offers a Vocational Business Education Licensure Program via distance learning.

This 6-hour graduate program is designed for business education teachers who wish to add an additional license in the area of vocational business education. Courses are offered on-line (via the Internet). Students can complete all course requirements in one summer.

NEW !  SPECIAL EDUCATION: MILD INTERVENTIONS LICENSURE

The University now offers a distance friendly graduate licensure program in special education in the area of mild interventions.

This graduate program is designed for the licensed teacher (K-12) who wishes to add a special education teaching license in the area of mild interventions. The program consists of 24-30 semester hours, depending on whether prerequisites must be taken.

Courses are offered via a combination of distance learning and on-campus seminars during the summer. Students can complete this licensure program in two summers.
