ISU DISTANCE ENROLLMENTS:  SPRING 2008

At Indiana State University, Spring 2008 enrollments in semester-based distance courses totaled 4,296 at the 7-day count. This represents a 7.2% increase over Spring 2007 enrollments of 4,007 -- and a record high for distance learning at Indiana State University.

  - Spring 07: 4,007

Credit Hours Generated (5.7% increase)
  - Spring 08: 12,620
  - Spring 07: 11,935

Courses Offered (3% increase)
  - Spring 08: 270 courses (DT-VC: 13; I-TV: 8; Web: 249)
  - Spring 07: 262 courses (TV: 18; Web: 244)

ANGIE MACLAREN:  NEW ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF DISTANCE SUPPORT SERVICES

Effective January 2008, Angie MacLaren is the Assistant Director of Distance Support Services at Indiana State University.

Angie's primary responsibilities are to oversee the operations of Distance Support Services and to serve as an advocate for students in distance learning programs and courses.

Services provided by the unit include:

  • ACADEMIC DEPARTMENTS / FACULTY:  To coordinate (and provide) delivery and marketing support for academic departments and faculty members developing and teaching distance courses and programs.
     
  • STAFF:  To assist and serve as a liaison to university and statewide resources.
     
  • DISTANCE STUDENTS:  To provide a full-range of just-in-time, accessible support services designed to recruit and retain students - and ensure their success. For a list of those services, read the Spring 2008 Welcome Letter.

Other responsibilities include representing the University through service to various statewide organizations, including the Indiana College Network (ICN).

PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT ASSISTANCE

ISU faculty members who are interested in developing courses (including general education) for distance programs may benefit from the array of services offered by the University's Office of Distance Support Services.

Services include (but are not limited to):

  • Distance course development
  • Distance program development
  • Marketing
  • Televised course support
  • One-stop student services designed for distance learners
