HLTH 601 Research Methodology in Health and Safety (3 hours)
Description: Emphasis on research methodologies leading to the
development of a research problem. The course will discuss problem and sample
selection, data collection, and literature review.

HLTH 604 Research Design and Data Analysis in Health and Human Performance (3
hours)
Description: Designed to familiarize graduate students with research
design and data analysis including scientific methodology, data collection, and
statistical analyses. Includes an introduction to computerized data
manipulation, analyses, interpretation, and presentation.

HLTH 605 Occupational Systems Analysis (3 hours)
Description: An examination of occupational health and safety problems
from a systems analysis perspective. Models which analyze operational hazards
are explored.

HLTH 606 Human Factors/Ergonomics in Safety Management (3 hours)
Description: An inquiry into the physiological, behavioral, and
environmental variables which affect occupational health and safety.
Applications of ergonomic, behavior modification, and human factors management
techniques are reviewed.

HLTH 607 Transportation Management (3 hours)
Description: Examines the concepts and problems of transportation
management. Major areas covered include: fleet operation and maintenance,
freight documentation, rate determination, weighing, and routing.

HLTH 608 Safety Legislation, Litigation, and Compliance (3 hours)
Description: An overview of legislation and record keeping requirements
necessary for effective safety management compliance. Regulations promulgated by
OSHA, MSHA, EPA, and DOT will be examined along with litigation strategies
useful in loss prevention.

HLTH 609 Applied Communication in Health and Safety (3 hours)
Description: An overview of the methods available for improving workplace
health and safety through effective communications. Development of health and
safety educational and promotional resources is emphasized.

HLTH 610 Safety Inspection, Assessment, and Control (3 hours)
Description: An introduction to workplace safety audit procedures.
Occupational health and safety risk assessment and control procedures will be
analyzed.

HLTH 626 Supervision and Management in Health and Safety (3 hours)
Description: Supervisory methods, tools, and techniques designed to
develop leadership qualities, to promote human relations, and to upgrade
contributions of employee personnel involved in various types of health and
safety programs.

HLTH 629 Field Research Project in Health or Safety (3 hours)
Description: Comprehensive study and written report involving a specific
problem related to health and/or safety.
