HRD 605 Developing Performance Based Occupational Curriculum—3 credits.
Identification and development of performance-based occupational course content. Students will
become familiar with essentials, selection, and prioritizing of course content.
Note: HRD 605 will be waived if the undergraduate degree included TMGT 369 or equivalent.
HRD 656 International and Cross Cultural Teaching—3 credits. The analysis, selection, design, implementation, and evaluation of training programs to increase functional capabilities in international and multicultural environments. Topics include the role of communication, human responses to new cultural settings, and the teaching of methods to analyze and react to cultural interfaces. Stress will be placed on the design and use of interactive training materials including those based on role playing, group discussion, and simulations.
HRD 670 Systematic Design of HRD Programs—3 credits. The design of HRD programs includes strategic planning, establishing benchmarks, cost estimating for implementation, and operation. A systems approach includes needs assessment, designing, delivery system, and materials selection. Prerequisites: 605 or equivalent.
HRD 675 Leadership in Human Resource Development—3 credits. A study of concepts and practices of leadership in human resource development for education and industry. Students will investigate concepts and practices of leadership, organizational culture, and explore how they affect people within an organization.
HRD 695 Rationale and Evaluation of HRD Programs—3 credits. Provides experiences in establishing the foundations for and the evaluation of the many facets of HRD training programs. Prerequisite: 670.
TMGT 659 Professional Internship—3 credits. The purpose of this field based project experience is to identify and solve real training and linking problems common to the educational establishments with industry and business.
TMGT 685 Major Project—3 credits.
This course is the culminating experience in human resource development synthesizing concepts,
knowledge, skills, attitudes, and values in application to problems, issues, and concerns related
to higher education and industry.
Note: Must be taken in last 9 credits of program.
TMGT 698 Research Methods—3 credits. Study of research methods and an evaluation of results with implications for further research.
TMGT 699 Master's Thesis—6 credits. By arrangement with chairperson of student's thesis committee.
