Admission

I want to take a course. Do I need to apply for admission to ISU?

Yes. If you wish to complete a distance course or program, you will need to apply for admission to Indiana State University as either a degree-seeking or nondegree-seeking student. The application process is relatively simple. For instructions, visit Getting Started section of this Guide.   go

What is the MyISU Portal?

The MyISU Portal is a web site that enables you to access your ISU email account, personal (secured) information, semester-based class schedules, online registration, links to your courses, and University announcements. More information is located in the MyISU Portal section of this guide.   go

Exams

What are the guidelines for examinations for ISU distance courses?

Each ISU instructor handles examinations differently. Information regarding examinations for a course is supplied in the course syllabus or explained during the first class meeting. Some instructors require proctored examinations, taken under the supervision of a pre-approved proctor. At the beginning of the course, verify the method of delivery for examinations. For instructions (including information on how and when to schedule a proctored examination), contact the course instructor.

What fees do I pay as a distance learner?

Financial Aid / Assistance

Are all ISU courses considered for financial aid?

Special regulations apply to financial aid--based on course delivery. For details, visit the Office of Student Financial Aid.    go
 

Does ISU offer a tuition management plan?

Yes. Indiana State University's Sycamore Payment Plan enables qualified individuals to pay for semester-based courses in affordable monthly payments. Year-based courses are not considered for the tuition management plan. For information, call 1-800-722-4867.

ID Cards

How do I obtain my Sycamore card (ID)?

Once admitted, contact Traffic and Parking Services to obtain a student identification (ID) card. This ID card is required to access a variety of ISU resources, including the Help Desk and library services. In addition, this ID card often entitles you to student discounts in your community.

To request an ID card, call 1-812-237-8888. Or e-mail parking@indstate.edu The email must include:

  • Your Name
  • Your University Identification Number
    (Note: This is your 991 number - not your social security number)
  • Your complete mailing address (street and/or post office box)

Registration

I want to register for an ISU course. Where can I find course listings and instructions?

If you have questions regarding web courses, contact the OIT Help Desk at 888-818-LINK or visit the web at http://ithelp.indstate.edu  

If you have questions regarding admission, registration, textbooks, financial aid, or any other ISU process, contact Distance Support Services at 888-237-8080 or studentservices@indstate.edu

I-TV Courses

I just registered for an I-TV course. What should I do next?

You must arrange a receive site in your area. For instructions, visit: I-TV Courses
 

How do I know if a receive site is available in my community?

Contact Distance Support Services at 888-237-8080. There are receive sites located throughout Indiana - and at selected out-of-state locations.
 

If I have technical problems at my receive site, who should I call?

You should report technical problems to your local site coordinator. If the problem persists, contact Distance Support Services at 888-237-8080 or studentservices@indstate.edu

Time Limitation

Are there time limitations regarding degree completion?

Yes. Master degree requirements must be completed within seven years. Doctoral (Ph.D.) degrees must be completed within nine years. Undergraduate degrees, and licensure, certificate, and endorsement programs also may have time limitations. Ask your academic advisor about time limitations and other restrictions that may apply to the program you are completing.
