The Basic Rider Course (BRC) is designed for the beginning rider but is not limited to only new riders. Riders with some experience also find the BRC to be an excellent course. Those riders with more experience might also consider the Experienced Rider Course (ERC) described below.
Courses may last from 15 to 20 hours depending on weather, overall class progression, and other factors. The BRC consists of classroom and on-cycle training (motorcycle furnished by ISU). No permit or license is required. Students should arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the start time for each session.
The Experienced Rider Course (ERC) is designed for experienced riders who want to increase their knowledge of motorcycle dynamics and street riding strategies, practice advanced street riding skills on their own motorcycle in a controlled environment, and obtain their motorcycle endorsement if still riding on a permit. Courses consist of five to six hours of on-cycle training with discussion sessions conducted between riding sessions.
Note: Riders must furnish motorcycle, helmet and all
safety apparel and must possess a motorcycle license, endorsement or
permit, furnish proof of insurance and the motorcycle must pass an
on-site inspection.
