WELCOME TO NCEE ONLINE
The National Council on Economic Education
(NCEE) is a nationwide network that leads in promoting economic literacy with students and their teachers. NCEE's
mission is to help students develop the real-life skills they need to succeed: to be able to think and choose responsibly as
consumers, savers, investors, citizens, members of the workforce, and effective participants in a global economy.
Programs
EconomicsAmerica
represents NCEE's growing number of initiatives developed for America's schools in a comprehensive K-12 program. The
goal is to have economics be the Fourth 'R' in our education system: Reality. A university-based network of 250 education
centers and 50 state councils, and a national Internet campus, provide an effective, and unique, local delivery system, which
trains over 120,000 teachers every year, and reaches more than 7 million students.
EconomicsInternational
concentrates on Central/Eastern Europe and the New Independent States of the former Soviet Union, helping to reform their
economic education systems and to educate citizens for transition to a market economy. Funded by the U.S. Dept. of Education,
the program is a true education exchange, impacting students abroad and in the U.S. EconomicsInternational
currently serves 20 foreign countries and reaches well over one million students annually.
EconomicsExchange
is a new program to help life-long learners and parents. It seeks to improve understanding of economics and personal finance
among interested 'students' at every stage of life both at home and in the workplace.
Support & Governance
NCEE secures funds from corporations and associations, agencies of the federal government, individuals, and public and private
foundations to support and deliver powerful impact programs.
A distinguished, voluntary Board of Directors governs NCEE, with members drawn from all of NCEE's constituencies. State and
local volunteers are also engaged throughout the NCEE network.
Our Unique Delivery System
In addition to grants provided by NCEE, the affiliated state Councils raise funds to support their local programs. The university-based Centers in each state foster professional development of K-12 teachers and show them how to use NCEE materials effectively. Our 250 Centers conduct research and evaluation on state standards, teaching methodologies, and outcomes in economic education.
