New undergraduate geosciences degree available Fall 2010. New requirements...

The Geosciences Program at ISU provides hands-on field and laboratory experiences, with helpful, one-on-one guidance from faculty mentors. The diverse array of faculty ensures that students get broad training in the traditional geology disciplines and in earth science-related fields such as environmental geology, geochemistry, Quaternary sciences, paleoceanography, paleoecology, and geobiology.

The Geosciences Program also offers an M.S. in Earth and Quaternary Sciences as a thesis or non-thesis option. The non-thesis option is designed as a professional degree for students wishing to enhance career opportunities. The academic programs for both options require a minimum of 33 semester hours of graduate credits.

In addition, the Geoscience Program offers an exciting, interdisciplinary doctoral degree in SPATIAL AND EARTH SCIENCES. The newly redesigned program offers advanced studies in geospatial sciences and earth sciences. Students have a wide range of research topics to choose from, including remote sensing, geographic information science, dendrochronology, environmental sciences, geoarchaeology, geochemistry, paleoecology, and paleoceanography. The earth science concentration of the Ph.D allows for a flexible program of study that can be tailored to a student's interests.
