Open To: Graduate.
Selection Criteria: Recipients must be enrolled full time in the
graduate Geography program and have a minimum grade point average of
3.25 on a 4.0 scale. The students must show financial need and
first preference will be given to a Pakistani Muslim student and
secondly to any Muslim Student(s).
Award Amount: Certificate and one $1000 Scholarship given
annually.

Benjamin Moulton Award
Description: This award was established in 1983to honor Dr. Ben
Moulton's retirement on May 6, 1983. He Joined ISU in 1961 and was
appointed chairperson in 1964.
Open To: Graduate.
Selection Criteria: Award will be considered based on evidence of
potential research skills. Eligible students must have at least
one year in residence at the time the award is granted.
Award Amount: Certificate and Monetary value of $75.00 for
periodicals or books.

Open To: Geoscience students who will be juniors, seniors, or a
graduate student.
Selection Criteria: Recipients must be U.S. citizens and residents of
the state of Indiana, must be enrolled full time (minimum of 12 hours
per semester) and maintain minimum 3.0 grade point average on a 4.0
scale, must have demonstrated leadership skills and quality of character

Description: This scholarship was endowed by the members of the
Oliver family, their friends, and former students of Dr. John Oliver.
The John Oliver Memorial Scholarship has been in place since 2009. Each
year the scholarship is awarded to an undergraduate student who
specializes in Climatology.
Open To: Undergraduate student specializing in Climatology
Selection Criteria: Recipient will be a full-time student at Indiana
State University and be a talented and high achieving student showing
academic promise in the area of physical Geography with preference given
to Geography majors specializing in climate. The student must have
a GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and preference will be made to the candidate
with superior academic performance.

McBeth Talisman Fund
Description: The McBeth Talisman is the oldest award for the
department being established in 1928 by William Allen McBeth
(1855-1924), graduating class of 1895 of Indiana State Normal School and
a teacher of Geography and geology at the school from 1897 until 1924.
The Talisman is a gold medal bearing the McBeth coat of arms; the first
medal was awarded to Loretta A. Arvin in 1928.
Open To: Undergraduate Senior
Selection Criteria: The gold medal will be granted to the graduating
senior who has done the most outstanding work in the fields of
geography and geology.
Award Amount: Certificate along with a McBeth family Coat of Arms
engraved medal

Robert R. Drummond
Scholarship
Description: This scholarship was endowed by the members of the
Drummond family, their friends, and former students of Dr. Robert R.
Drummond. The Robert R. Drummond Scholarship has been in place
since 1999. Each year the scholarship is awarded to an
undergraduate student who plans on teaching Geography or Earth Science
at the middle school or secondary school level.
Open To: Undergraduate student planning on teaching Geography or
Earth Science at the Middle School or Secondary School level.
Selection Criteria: Recipient will be a sophomore or Junior enrolled
full-time at Indiana State University and must be committed to teach
Geography or Earth Science at the Middle school or high School level.
The scholarship will be enacted in the year that the student is a Junior
or Senior correspondingly. The student must have a GPA of 3.0 on a
4.0 scale and preference will be made to the candidate with superior
academic performance. In the event that there are two equally
qualified candidates, the student with the greater financial need shall
be granted first consideration.

Pace Memorial Scholarship in Anthropology
Description: Scholarship awards are made on a competitive basis for the
academic year, and may be renewed for no more than three succeeding
years. The scholarship is provided in the form of a waiver of
fees, $500.00 for each semester, totaling $1000.00. Any portion of
the scholarship not used will be mailed in the form of a check from the
Controller’s Office.
Open To: Undergraduate
Selection Criteria: 1) Must be an anthropology major or specifically
plan to be; 2) have a serious interesting a career within anthropology,
and must have 3) maintained a GPA of 3.0 or better for the semester or
term preceding the award. Renewal of awards will be based upon the above
criteria, and active participation in departmental activities.

Description: Could involve up to three awards of about $1500.00 each.

Selection Criteria: 1) Enrolled as a student at Indiana State
University, 2) are citizens of the U.S. and the state of Indiana, 3)
have shown ability to succeed in chosen field of study, 4) refrain from
the use of controlled drugs and/or tobacco, 5) refrain from
participating in intercollegiate athletics, 6) are or were in the upper
25% of their high school class, and 7) maintain a B GPA after high
school.
