Description
Student Conducted Research: The Role of the Faculty Sponsor and How to Effectively Navigate the IRB Process; Presenters are Lindsey Eberman and Vicki Hammen.
In this session, presenters will share tips and best practices for student researchers and faculty sponsors for preparing and submitting materials to the Institutional Review Board at Indiana State University. This session will focus on WHAT information is typically helpful to IRB reviewers to understand the proposed research and HOW best to communicate with members of the IRB who do not have discipline-specific expertise in the research area. Presenters will outline the IRB's expectation of faculty sponsors and share common mistakes made in preparation and submission of protocols, with the intent of helping attendees avoid those issues with the IRB applications of students they sponsor.
These tips will aid students and their faculty sponsors in preparing an application that can result in efficient review by the members of the IRB.
