Description

As a child, David Cox, DDS, watched Disney go to exotic places every Sunday night. That mixed with his dad always saying to him, “Try your best, never quit, and you’ll always get what you want.” He always thought, “I can do this.”

David will share his recollection and insights into the personal and cultural nuances a travel log wouldn’t. He will be flying through Abu Dhabi to Kathmandu, then via a small plane to what’s touted as the “most dangerous” airport in the world; Lukla. (Then through many Sherpa villages while there, up the Khumbu valley to Everest Base Camp.) He will climb Kala Pathar, interacting with the Sherpa people and famous climbers, listening to their stories.

After watching Josh Powers’s presentation on Kilimanjaro, David became inspired by his efforts to aid “First Gen” students. David will also be climbing to raise scholarship funds for ISU first generation college students who are confronting the inability to fully pay for their last semester or two of their studies.
