Description

This presentation is an overview of the Knights Templar (The Order of the Poor Knights of Christ in the Temple of Jerusalem), founded in ca. 1118-1119. The historical timeline from the Templar¹s first recorded history (including 200 years of official recognition by the Roman Catholic Church as a religious Order of warrior Monks) to its disbanding on trumped up charges of heresy by French King Philip IV in 1307; and finally, its reconstitution by French Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte in 1804. The present day Knights Templar Order is called the Sovereign Military Order of the Temple of Jerusalem (SMOTJ), it consists of over 40 Nations of Templar Knights and Dames, and is a NGO (Non Government Organization) with representation at the United Nations in New York, Geneva and Switzerland.
