Description

Climbing Kilimanjaro for Student Success with Joshua Powers, ISU Associate Vice President for Student Success

Cost:  Free

Dr. Joshua Powers, Associate Vice President for Student Success at ISU, is participating in a climbing expedition in mid-September to the summit of Mt. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, Africa. Kili as it is affectionately called, is the highest peak in Africa at 19,341 feet and the fourth highest among the Seven Summits representing the highest elevations on each continent. Josh will be climbing to raise scholarship funds for ISU first generation college students who are confronting the inability to fully pay for their last semester or two of their studies. His presentation will describe his motivation for the expedition, photographs and description of the experience, and excerpts from his blog while on the trip (which you can follow now to learn more about the climb, his training and first gens at ISU: https://kiliclimbjosh.wordpress.com/). The goal is $19,341, the same height as Kilimanjaro.
