Description
Students in the French program of the Department of Languages, Literatures, and Linguistics will be performing Jean-Paul Sartre\'s 1944 play, Huis clos, in French. The play features three characters thrown together in a locked room (hell).
As the play unfolds, the audience learns about each character, his or her crime, and how the characters face their final judgement. First performed in occupied Paris is 1944, the play both reflects the historical moment of occupation, collaboration, and resistance and yet continues to speak to audiences with its investigation of human nature and morality.
The play will be performed in French for one night only in the Boyce Recital Hall of the Landini Center for Performing and Fine Arts.
The performance is free and open to the public.
