Beginning on December 11 at 9 pm and continuing on the following two Sundays, PBS will broadcast three new (2016) film adaptations of Shakespeare's early English history plays. The first two films are based on Shakespeare's two Henry VI plays and the third on Richard III. Tom Sauer will provide background information about Shakespeare¹s English history plays, an introduction to The Wars of the Roses, the relationship between the two series of The Hollow Crown, reflections on Shakespeare in the theater and on film. Time for questions and discussion will follow.
