Effective May 29th, any student who logs into the MyISU Portal to add/drop classes will be directed to answer "Option to Authorize Covering Fees for E-textbooks with Financial Aid." The authorization will only need to be answered once and may be changed at any time.

Examples of federal financial aid include Pell Grants, Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants (SEOG), Perkins Loans, and Subsidized and Unsubsidized Direct Loans.

Your permission allows ISU to apply your financial aid to the payment of the e-text fee. If you do not answer, or if you choose "no," you must pay that fee separately.

All students are being asked to answer this question. Should you subsequently become a federal financial aid recipient, we will know how you want us to use federal aid balances in association with mandatory e-textbook fees.

No. Once you have made a selection, you will not have to answer again.

If you make your selection online, the authorization will go into effect immediately. If you make your selection by paper form, it will take effect when the form is received by the Office of the Controller (Account Analysts) during normal business hours.

Your selection will remain in effect unless you choose to change/rescind it, which you may do at any time.

The financial aid authorization questions will be posted for all students to answer regardless of whether or not they have applied for financial aid. Please note that the authorization question is not a guarantee that you are eligible for financial aid. To confirm your eligibility, visit Self Service Links, Financial Aid, on the MyISU Portal.

You may review your current selection on the MyISU Portal. You may change your authorization regarding the use of your excess federal financial aid balances by paper or online through your MyISU Portal: Homepage Tab, My Banner Self Service link in the Self-Service Channel, Student & Financial Aid, Registration, Title IV Federal Student Aid Authorization.

If you did not select "yes" on the authorization question, we will not apply your financial aid to the e-text fee. Hence, you must pay that fee separately.

Under the base fees section there are two separate charges listed. One is for the students who authorize eligible financial aid to cover the e-text fee. The other fee is for students who did not authorize the e-text fee to be paid by aid. You will only be charged one of these e-text fees, dependent on your authorization choice.

Refunds for the e-text fee correlate with the drop refund percentages, same as tuition. If you receive any type of refund, your access to the e-text will be removed. If you drop the course and do not receive a refund, you will maintain access until the end of the semester.
