I. Administrative Report President Benjamin reported: 1) His recent trip to Morocco had been worthwhile with many contacts; 2) Work continues on the budget and enrollments; 3) Informal introductory meetings with 3-5-year faculty continue; 4) The Provost search is moving along on target—he is pleased with the candidate pool and the work of the consultant.
The President extended congratulations to the incoming Senate officers and expressed gratitude for the recent Senate action on the Code of Student Conduct.
Provost Maynard noted the award recipients for this year to be recognized at the April 22nd Faculty Honors Dinner.
II. Chair Report Chair Hudson reported she has met with the Experiential Learning Committee, and that FAC will consider the Committee’s report on Wednesday, April 14—she plans to attend the FAC meeting.
III. Old Business AAC: Administrative Searches Removed from the table. (Sheets, Davis 7-0-1) After discussion, noting concerns of the Executive Committee, the resolution will be sent forward to a subcommittee of next year’s Executive Committee for rewriting. (Harper, Tenerelli 5-1-2)
Faculty Trustees Discussion continued on points for inclusion in the letter to President Benjamin. Chair Hudson will finalize and forward copies to the Executive Committee.
IV. New Business FAC: Sabbatical Leaves document Endorsed with changes. (Harper, Schneirov 6-0-1) Discussion: noted that the document remained much the same as before but contained more detail and ranking of applications not required.
FAC: Handbook Language on Academic Department Chairpersons Approved as amended. (Lawrence, Sheets 4-0-2) Discussion: new material was noted and summer stipends determined on base salary instead of total salary (base plus supplement).
CAAC: Science Teaching Major Approved. (Davis, Anderson 5-0-1) Discussion: major hours increased to meet State requirements.
AAC Satisfaction Survey Distributed for consideration at next week’s meeting;
A quorum was lost at 5:10 p.m.; adjournment at 5:35 p.m.
