1) James Wurtz and Katherine Lee were elected as Chair and Secretary/Vice

Chair of the UAEC, respectively.

III. Open Discussion:

1) Discussion of submission deadlines and future meetings

I. Approval of September 2 Minutes

Wurtz noted that his name was erroneously listed as “S. Wurtz” in the September 2 minutes; Lee said that she would correct it.

APPROVED (Wurtz, Venable: unanimous) 

II.  Chairperson’s Report:

1) Wurtz noted the amounts of the funds requested and the funds available for distribution.

            2) Motion: movement into Executive Session

APPROVED (Wurtz, Venable: unanimous)

III. Executive Session:

1) The committee went into executive session to discuss and vote on individual grant requests.

3) Motion: movement out of Executive Session

APPROVED (Vancil, Wurtz: unanimous)

Three grant requests were approved and one was denied. The approved grant requests totaled approximately $17,500.

Wurtz suggested that committee members approve the November 12 minutes via e-mail.

The meeting was adjourned at 4:40 p.m.
