Dr. Nate Henry

Dr. Henry is a US Army physical therapist. He graduated from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and minors in Portuguese and Military Science. After commissioning as a US Army Quartermaster Officer and serving in the Iraq conflict, Dr. Henry attended the US Army-Baylor Doctor of Physical Therapy Program where he investigated Clinical and Electrodiagnostic Abnormalities of the Medial Nerve in US Army Dental Assistants. He has since treated American and international soldiers ranging from basic trainees and cadets to the elite Rangers and Special Forces.

Dr. Henry is a Board Certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist through the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties and a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapists. He holds a Diploma in Osteopractic from the American Academy of Manipulative Therapy and is Certified in Spinal Manipulative Therapy and Dry Needling. In 2014 he published in the Journal of Orthopaedic & Sports Physical Therapy: Osteochondroma Fracture at the Distal Medial Femur. In 2018 he co-authored a dry needling RCT for plantar fasciitis in the peer-reviewed journal PLoS One. He graduated from Baylor University – Keller Army Community Hospital Division I Sports Physical Therapy Fellowship at West Point in 2019 and earned a concomitant Doctor of Science (DSc) degree from Army-Baylor.

As a physical therapist in the US Army, Dr. Henry’s passion lies in maintaining the soldier’s body so that the battlefield athlete is always ready for the unknown and unknowable challenges of combat. He is Airborne qualified, Combatives certified, and has earned the Expert Field Medical Badge. Additionally, Dr. Henry owns and operates the sports performance physiotherapy clinic Empower Performance. There he delivers injury prevention, human performance optimization, and holistic rehabilitation for those that want to achieve their full physical potential and maintain active lifestyles.

Dr. Henry has a strong interest in physical fitness. He is a proponent of the Resiliency Project, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing an exercise community for military veterans in an effort to reduce veteran suicide. Additionally, he is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, and in 2016 he lectured in Miami for the Florida Chapter of the National Strength and Conditioning Association. Dr. Henry and his wife hold CrossFit Level 1 and Level 2 Trainer Certificates, CrossFit Movement and Mobility Trainer Certificates, POSE Running Method Certificates, and are active in the local fitness and outdoor recreational community with their five children and son-in-law.
