Family and Consumer Sciences Education

 

Vocational Family and Consumer Sciences Education provides an entry to one of the hottest professions in the nation - teacher shortages are likely to be a major factor until the year 2005. With rising demand, and salaries that are quite competitive, persons with an inclination to serve, and still make a decent living may well be advised to examine the career path of FCS Education.

Having a sincere desire to help others is, of course, a necessary ingredient in becoming a successful teacher. Some additional qualities include:

* Students are urged to select electives leading to completion of the Family Life Education Minor. The recommendation is also made to select FCS 498 as an elective on the Family and Consumer Sciences Education Program in order to have cours e work completed for Occupational Family and Consumer Sciences Education certification. Occupational certification requires 4,000 hrs. related work experience or 1,500 supervised hours.
