Dr. Rao Ivaturi

Associate Professor, Food and Nutrition, Dietetics

Degrees: PhD, CNS. Obtained B.S. in Agriculture from Andhra Pradesh Agricultural University in India, M.S. in Foods and Nutrition from Kansas State University, and PhD from University of Nebraska, in Human Nutrition.

Expertise and Activity Statement :Dr Ivaturi’s concentration is in the area of Nutrition Science. He teaches introductory and advanced level nutrition courses. More recently he has developed a dual listed ‘Wellness in Nutrition’ course that involves students to apply advanced nutrition concepts in designing an individualized wellness program. Dr. Ivaturi assists graduate students with their research projects. His research interests are in the areas of cardiovascular health, Type 2 diabeties and weight management. His area of expertise also extends to the study of world hunger and its physiological implications. Dr. Ivaturi is the founder and creator of Webdietitian and has launched the http://www.webdietitian.com website that provides nutrition related information on several health modules. In addition he has developed Diet and Weight Analyst (DWA) and the Diet Planning Guides (DPG) CD-ROM applications for PC users. He has recently upgraded the Diet Planning Guide CD-ROM incorporating full functional diet planning features for several health modules along. This application’s unique function is that users can develop/create diets for new health module of their choice. A recipient of ISU’s Caleb Mills Outstanding Teaching Award, Dr. Ivaturi extensively uses technology in his teaching practices. Dr. Ivaturi serves as a faculty advisor for the Indian Student Association on campus.
