Ms. Karen Jenson Rutherford
Professor, Interior Design
Degrees: MFA. Obtained the B.S. in Textiles at University of Wisconsin, M.S. and MFA in Studio Art from Illinois State University.
Expertise and Activity Statement :
Ms. Rutherford teaches the History of architecture, interiors and furniture from the beginning of time to the present
and Studio design class for freshman interior design students. She is a member of Interior Design Educators Council, American Craft Council, Handweavers Guild of America, Surface Design Association, National Trust for Historic Preservation, and
College Art Association. Ms. Rutherford’s graduate work in art and design serves the students well in teaching the history of architecture, decorative
arts, and design and the 2-3 D design foundation studios. Her scholarly work centers on the visual arts, exhibiting nationally, and writing about the teaching of design.
She has conducted seminars at universities in England and Turkey.
