What You Need To Know About Financial Aid for 2014-2015

  1. The 2014-2015 Free Application for Federal Aid (FAFSA) is easier than ever. Visit www.fafsa.gov to file using your estimated household income and demographics. File by March 1 for priority consideration.

  2. Revisit your FAFSA before May 15 to provide your final tax information. Use the IRS data retrieval tool to automatically upload your tax return data to the FAFSA. After submitting, review your confirmation screen to ensure you have the appropriate signatures and zero error messages.

  3. Indiana State University's Office of Student Financial Aid will make estimated offers in late March. Incoming freshmen will be mailed a paper letter. All other students will be contacted via email, and estimated awards will be posted in the MyISU Portal.

IMPORTANT: Just because an award has been offered to you does not mean your aid package is complete. To view unsatisfied items, visit the MyISU Portal > Financial Aid > Financial Aid Requirements.

  4. Over 30% of ISU students will have to verify the information on the FAFSA by undergoing a process called "verification." Students selected for verification will be notified. If you are selected, visit verification for instructions.

  5. If you are interested in student or parent loans, you must submit an application. Applications for 2014-2015 become available in late February. Loans will be processed starting July 1. First-time borrowers also have to submit signatures online. Review the loan application for instructions.

  6. Eligibility is contingent on enrollment, satisfactory academic progress, and citizenship. If you are not sure whether you meet these criteria, visit eligibility for details.

  7. Financial aid will start disbursing in August. Federal monies will disburse 10 days before classes begin in the fall. Refunds are issued 2-3 days after your account is paid in full. For more information, bookmark refunds.
