Freshman 101

Additional Funding Options

PLUS or Private Loans

If a student applies for financial aid by submitting the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), our office will consider the student for federal student loans, including the Federal Perkins Loan as well as the Federal Direct Stafford Loan. These loans do not require a credit check, and the student must apply through the school.

If additional loans are needed, parents may consider borrowing a Federal Direct Parent PLUS Loan. Applications are submitted through the school via a paper form.

Alternatively, students may consider a private student loan through the lender of their choice.

Federal Direct Parent PLUS loans and private loans require new applications each year, and students must meet all regular financial aid eligibility requirements for the loan to be certified.
